4. Balkan Symposium on Fruit Growing

Dear colleagues,

The Balkan Peninsula is by long tradition a fruit growing region due to ideal climatic conditions, social and economic situation and horticultural knowledge and experience. A wide diversity of fruit species can be found all over the region and cultivars have been developed locally during centuries. Many treasured local cultivars are found in farms and gardens all over the region and the fruits are used for table consumption and industrial processing.

The International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS) and the Organizing Committee

of the 4th Balkan Symposium on Fruit Growing (BSFG) are pleased to invite you to attend the most significant event in fruit growing sector in Balkan area that will be held in magnificent city, Istanbul, Turkey from 14th to 18th September, 2019.

The first Balkan Symposium on Fruit Growing was held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 2007 and followed by Pitesti, Romania in 2011, Belgrade (Serbia) in 2015.

This international meeting is mostly intended for researchers from Balkan countries, but researchers all other countries are also welcome. The aim of this symposium is promoting the communication and cooperation among the researchers, companies and growers.

The topics will focus on the fields of fruit breeding, biotechnology, genetic resources, growing technologies, post harvest, processing, pest and disease management.

The official language of the symposium will be English. During the symposium the modern private and public fruit tree genetic resources will be visited in Yalova near Istanbul.

We would like to invite you to participate in this event. Hope to see you in Istanbul, Turkey in September 2019.
