40. International Conference of The Stress and Anxiety Research Society

The Stress and Anxiety Research Society (STAR) is a multidisciplinary, international organization of researchers who share an interest in problems of stress, coping, and anxiety. Its members, from more than 35 countries, meet annually to exchange research findings and clinical applications on a wide range of stress and anxiety related phenomena.

STAR conferences provide a unique opportunity to learn, not just about stress and anxiety, but also how psychology is studied and practiced throughout the world. STAR has been exceedingly active in providing an opportunity to share research and clinical findings in an international forum. STAR’s first scientific conference was held in Leiden, the Netherlands in 1980. Since that time, annual meetings have been hosted by STAR members in some of the world’s most beautiful cities in Germany, Belgium, Israel, Norway, Italy, Hungary, Belgium, Egypt, Spain, the Czech Republic, Austria, Turkey, Poland, Slovakia, Australia, Portugal, Greece, Dominican Republic, United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, Croatia, and China. These meetings provide a platform for major addresses by internationally known scholars, paper and poster sessions, as well as workshops.

This edition of the STAR conference is special because our scientific society commemorates its 40th anniversary. In this special conference we want to celebrate 40 years of psychological science, 40 years of continuous efforts to try to understand, explain and minimize the effects of anxiety and stress, and to increase coping resources and resilience. And we want to honor all the academics and professionals who dedicated in the past and are dedicating their lives to the improvement of the psychological health of people, and especially those who have been linked to the STAR during this long period of time. Our desire is to continue fighting hard to try to help people live happier lives.

The STAR Board and the local organizers of this 40th STAR conference encourage you to come to Mallorca, a beautiful island in the Mediterranean, to continue contributing to psychological science and to celebrate with us our historic achievement.
