Level 3 Reconstructive Breast Cancer Surgery Workshop-IREBS 2023

Dear Colleagues,

It will be our pleasure to welcome you once more to our Istanbul Reconstructive Breast Cancer Surgery (IREBS) Workshop. This basic oncoplastic breast surgery training programme is a project of SENATURK which has a 13-year of experience on academic and clinical training on breast health. As before, this year’s programme will again include all aspects of therapeutic mammoplasty which we think breast surgeons should be skilled. Therefore we expect this workshop to attract surgical oncologists, gynecologists and plastic/reconstructive surgeons with a major interest in breast cancer management.

The faculty will include leading breast and plastic/reconstructive surgeons who are also experienced in teaching. The workshop programme will consist of both lectures and practical modules for therapeutic mammoplasty techniques which participants may apply to their patients during everyday practice. The course attendants will listen to eminent surgeons in lectures about principles, indications, technique selection, preoperative planning and preparation, surgical techniques, avoidance and management of complications of reconstructive breast cancer surgery.

The participants will also attend 5 hands-on modules in which 8 therapeutic mammoplasty techniques as well as implant-based and latissimus dorsi (LD) flap reconstructions will be taught. In each practical module, minimum of two tutors will teach and coach trainees in small groups. During 4 therapeutic mammoplasty modules, participants will be practicing “mark-up” and “surgical technique” on live and foam models as “hands-on” training after listening and watching the necessary tutorials for each technique. Trainees will be also trained on fresh cadavers for implant and LD flap reconstruction techniques with the help of a live model (for marking and planning) as well.
