INVITATION

It is a great pleasure to welcome all of you to the 12th Joint Scandinavian Conference in Cardiothoracic surgery in Bergen, Norway, 8. - 10. of September 2021.
Due to the pandemic, this meeting has been postponed for one year. As the pandemic is still ongoing, the conference will be arranged as a hybrid meeting with both physical and digital participation of speakers and attendees. National regulations and international travel restrictions will make an impact, but we are sure that the arrangement will be safe and enlightening for everybody involved. SATS2021 is arranged in collaboration with the Norwegian Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery, as national support is particularly important in these difficult times.
This SATS/SCANSECT/SATNU meeting will take place at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in the city center. Wednesday September 8th will be assigned to workshops for trainees in cardiothoracic surgery followed by the official conference opening with a reception sponsored by Bergen City Council in the afternoon.
Thursday 9th and Friday 10th of September there will be keynote lectures by national and international renowned speakers in different areas including endocarditis, valve surgery, coronary surgery, aortic surgery, ECMO, lung cancer treatment and new innovations. In addition, there will be separate programs for nurses and perfusionists.
There will be excellent opportunities for research fellows and others to present their scientific work at the oral and poster sessions. Free paper presentations will be considered for the scientific awards.
Our ambition is to make the 12th Joint Conference in Cardiothoracic surgery a vibrant meeting with an excellent scientific program and opportunities for crosstalk and interactions. The Organizing Committee is committed to make your stay in Bergen enjoyable and inspirational despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic. We also hope you will enjoy the social program, although safety measures have to be followed in this part of the arrangement as well.
