INVITATION

The Association of Phono surgeons of India [APSI], is an association of ENT Surgeon’s with special interest in Laryngology. A few are exclusively Laryngologists. We are about 350 members in the association. Generally, we hold our annual congress, PHONOCON in the month of February. Due to Covid the congress of 2021 was cancelled. Next year 2022 we plan to have a Hybrid event, online with offline events on the 12th and 13th of February 2022. PHONOCON 2022 will be our 17th annual congress.
PHONOCON 2022 will be jointly organized by APSI and the Dept. of ENT Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences [KIMS]. KIMS is a reputed medical college in the heart of Bangalore. KIMS is involved in both undergraduate and post graduate teaching.
The last 2 years have disrupted the academic activities of medical students and consultants. In this context the academic content of the congress will be a blend of basics with some latest cutting-edge advances in laryngology. It should interest not only the novice laryngologist but also the established laryngologist. On 12th we will be treated to a feast of recorded minimally edited laryngeal surgeries, on 13th orations and talks will enrich the audience. Consultant [Rising star] and post graduate award papers will add spice to the congress.
Faculty includes both international and national pioneers in laryngology. Confirmed international faculty includes Prof Steven M Zeitels, Prof Andreas Muller, Prof Shigeru Hirano, Dr. Ilter Denzigolu and Dr Tanya Meyer.
Prof Steven Zeitels, first coined the term “Phonomicrosurgery”. This laid the foundation for modern day Laryngology - elimination of disease along with restoration of normal voice. Prof Andreas Muller is a noted Neurolaryngologist who pioneered the Laryngeal Pacing system. Both will be seen on an Indian platform for the first time.
Prof Shigeru Hirano is a leader in the reconstruction of superficial lamina propria. Dr Ilter Denzigolu is the co-inventor of the Lax Vox Exercises. Dr Tanya Meyer has worked extensively with Spasmodic Dysphonia patients. The international faculty will be accompanied by our talented local faculty.
