Dear friends,
We are delighted to announce the organisation of the 30th International Congress of Physical Education & Sport Science, which will take place from 20 to 22 May 2022 in Komotini, Greece.
Although the pandemic is holding up well, we do hope that it will soon start winding down so that in May, after two years of social isolation, we’ll be able to finally meet again and celebrate in-person the 30th anniversary Congress!
Recalling May 1993, when I welcomed the participants of the 1st International Congress of Physical Education & Sport Science in the Auditorium of the Democritus University of Thrace, I could not imagine that I’d have the honor -29 years later- to welcome the delegates again on the 30th birthday of the Congress as President of its Organising Committee!
We are here once again, after two years of online congresses, to welcome you all to the Auditorium of our School on Friday, 20 May 2022, and send out a message of optimism for the congresses that will follow.
Although it is a bit early to make any announcements and predictions, we are working tirelessly to offer our delegates a variety of workshops and round tables on cutting-edge science topics and a keynote lecture to on hot sports science topic.
However, one of the highlights of the conference not to be missed will be the awarding of the “Doctor Honoris Causa” of the Democritus University of Thrace to Otto Rehhagel, the former football coach of the “epic” 2004 Greece national football team. Rehhagel coached the Greece national team from 2001 to 2010 in the nation’s most successful footballing era – during that period, the Greek team won the 2004 European Championship unexpectedly and qualified for the 2010 World Cup.
