As the congress president it is a great pleasure to invite you to the 7th European Conference on Schizophrenia Research, which will be held from 26 – 28 September 2019 in Berlin (Germany) under the motto “Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders: Time for precision medicine?”
In recent years, psychiatric research more and more focuses on approaches apt to target therapies to the individual and to predict the course of illness from an early stage on. Respective concepts were labelled as personalised or individualised. Driven by new diagnostics and therapeutics, the more comprehensive term of precision medicine nowadays is used in this context. Precision medicine takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person in order to be able to predict more accurately which treatment and prevention strategies for a particular disease will work in which groups of people with similar clinical characteristics.
