Commercialization of Intellectual Property: Step by Step Roadmap

We are proud to announce that the 9th International Conference on Managing Intellectual Property will be held on the 17th and 18th of October 2019. The conference will be hosted on the historic campus of Bogazici University, which dates from 1869. Since its inception in 2011, the annual International Conference has been organized by Bogazici University in collaboration with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the European Patent Office (EPO). As of last year, Bogazici University has joined forces with Koç University, Middle East Technical University, and Özyeğin University. The resulting collaboration has led to the formation of an expanded conference organization committee that has determined this year’s conference theme as Commercialization of Intellectual Property: Step by Step Roadmap.

On Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th, two separate specialized training sessions will be offered jointly by experienced practitioners from the Licensing Executive Society International (LESI) and EPO. The innovative training sessions have only recently been designed and rendered into a training format. It is expected that these trainings will provide participants with a unique and unparalleled learning opportunity as they will be offered for the first time in Turkey.

As is suggested by the title of the conference, the overriding aim of both the 2-day conference on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th as well as the trainings that will be held over the weekend is to provide participants and in particular practitioners and professionals with a pragmatic and hands-on approach to effective and viable patenting and commercialization strategies that have been tried and tested. The conference content is intended to ensure that participants who follow the 2-day conference will leave the event with a firm grasp of each stage that is involved on a successful and rewarding commercialization journey.

The rundown of the 2-day event is scheduled in a manner that will seamlessly guide and accompany participants all the way from using patent data for landscape analysis to portfolio management. Expert speakers and practitioners will share their practical experience and knowledge on the techniques for conducting patent valuation and the benefits of using scoring technology for managing patent portfolios. Both evaluation as well as valuation reports are sources that provide vital feedback for shaping commercialization strategies. The key components of these reports will be examined in detail with a view to help participants identify their strengths as well as weaknesses and accordingly negotiate their way to a successful commercialization agreement.
