Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Workshop 2026

On behalf of the ISMRM MR Spectroscopy Study Group and the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, we are delighted to invite you to the Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) Workshop 2026: Where East Meets West for Metabolic Imaging. The workshop will be held at the beautiful Pine Bay Resort on the Aegean Coast of Türkiye.

Building on a decade of progress in open science, data sharing, and consensus-building, global interest in MRS has accelerated especially across Asia (Japan, China, India, Taiwan, South Korea, Türkiye), as well as Australia and South Africa. To foster broader participation, the ISMRM MRS Study Group has chosen a venue that is readily accessible from multiple continents. Our aims are to convene the international MRS community, orient newcomers to state-of-the-art MRS/MRSI technologies, and provide generous opportunities for trainees to meet, learn from, and share their work with leaders in the field. In addition to cutting-edge methods, the program will highlight the latest clinical frontiers and reflect on the community’s achievements.

The scientific program will feature invited lectures on advanced MRS research and applications, proffered abstracts, poster sessions, structured debates on timely topics, and discussions of best practices in MRS methodology. This workshop is formally endorsed by the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM).

An optional cultural excursion to the Ancient Greek city of Ephesus a UNESCO World Heritage site located approximately 20 minutes from the venue will take place on the final afternoon of the workshop.

Target audience includes:
* MR physicists and technology developers (including M.Sc./Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty) advancing MRS acquisition and analysis and supporting clinical/physiological research with MRS
* Basic and clinical scientists (e.g., neuroscientists, radiologists, psychiatrists, neurologists) seeking to integrate state-of-the-art MR spectroscopy into their research
* ISMRM members, particularly those in the MRS, Metabolomic Imaging, Brain Function, X-Nuclei Imaging, CEST, PET-MRI, MR of Cancer, MR in Psychiatry, Hyperpolarization, and UHF Study Groups
