Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the APOA Council, it is my honour to invite you to the 7th Congress of the Asia Pacific Trauma Society and the Inaugural Meet of the APOA Foot & Ankle Section on September 19 - 22, 2019 in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand.
I am sure that under the able stewardship of the Section Chairmen, Dr Hakan Kinik (APTS) and Dr Mark Blackney (APOA F&A), and with organisational capabilities of Dr Suthorn Bavonratanavech and Dr Jamal Ashraf, the Congress will be a roaring success. I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Dr Aree Tanavalee, President of RCOST, for his continued support to the APOA and its activities.
The Asia Pacific Trauma Society is one of the leading sections of the APOA. It has been at the forefront of coordinating various fellowship programs for the young orthopaedic surgeons. This vital approach is consistent with the APOA’s philosophy of providing increasing support for the education and participation of young orthopaedic surgeons.
Trauma forms the most important part of Orthopaedic Surgery. In many ways most of us signed up for orthopaedic training because we were so taken by the biology and mechanics of trauma care. Trauma encompasses all parts of the orthopaedic anatomy and all age ranges, from infants to pensioners. Trauma care often provides the best outcomes for our investment of time and effort. Whereas many of us have moved on from trauma care to other branches of orthopaedic surgery, a large part of our thinking remains rooted in the principles we learned during our training.
This meeting is designed so that we can cover a limited set of topics in greater detail through instructional course lectures and I hope you’d enjoy the scientific topics well arranged by the scientific committee led by Dr Marinis Pirpiris and Dr Surapong Anuraklekha and comprising stalwarts like Dr Rajiv Shah and Dr Theerachi Apivatthakakul.
Once again, thank you for your support for this meeting and we hope to see you again in future APOA conferences.
